Library Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
April 12, 2011
Present: Nancy Bailey, Suzanne Chapman, Dorothy Drobney, Shirley Ernst, Roberta Passardi, & Katherine Kalagher-Ryan
Absent: Paula Enderle
Meeting called to order at 7:10 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Suzanne Chapman made a motion to approve the March 8, 2011 meeting minutes. Nancy Bailey seconded. All in Favor. Motion Passes.
PRESENT TO SPEAK
None.
COMMUNICATIONS
Reviewed and discussed the letter Nancy Bailey wrote for the Willington Historical Society to demonstrate the WPL’s support of their application to the Historic Preservation Fund Grant.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Suzanne Chapman presented the treasurer’s report. Reviewed and discussed.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Roby Passardi presented the Director’s Report.
The Board reviewed and discussed the WPL’s Annual Report.
OLD BUSINESS
a) Budget for 2011-2012 Fiscal year was sent to the Town. The Town Meeting will be held on April 19, 2011 and the Referendum to vote on the Town budget will be on May 3, 2011.
b) Quickbooks Payroll—reviewed and discussed. Tabled until further notice.
NEW BUSINESS
An energy audit was performed at the library on April 11, 2011 by a representative from Conserve Co. The audit found that the library is operating efficiently, yet the auditor made a few recommendations about changing certain light bulbs. He will be writing and mailing an official report soon.
BOARD CONCERNS
The Board extends its sympathies to Deb Linares and her family on the passing of her father.
The Board extends its thanks to Raymond Stewart and Tim Phelps for fixing a gutter on the roof of the library.
Suzanne Chapman suggested we contact Public Works to schedule a cleaning for our outdoor drainage system.
Suzanne Chapman suggested we contact Skip’s to have our septic tank pumped, as it has been five years since the library opened at the new location and it has not been done yet.
Nancy Bailey has volunteered to draft a letter for the second year of our challenge grant. The letter will be reviewed at next month’s meeting, and will hopefully be mailed out to all Willington residents at the end of May.

Suzanne Chapman made a motion to Adjourn at 7:50 pm. Shirley Ernst seconded. All if favor. Motion passes.
